The Congregation for Divine Worship has decided that we ought not be saying the sacred Name of God. I guess we can bury the 70’s ditty “Yahweh, I know you are near”. Good riddance.

I do like the New Revised Standard Version’s footnote at Exodus 3:15, where they explain their use of “The LORD” as a transliteration:

The word ‘Lord’ when spelled with capital letters stands for the divine name, YHWH, which is here connected with the verb hayah, ‘to be’

That’s classy.
