Swing-and-a-miss with your column about Pelosi-gate. You say that this “conservative crozier waving” is about numbers, but it’s not.

It’s actually about truth, specifically a truth that the Speaker knows is inherently true, but has to suppress her conscience in order to deny. The truth is that every child in the womb is an individual who deserves to exercise its own inalienable rights, among those life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

American bishops of the Catholic Church have spoken up and issued the appropriate correction to Ms. Pelosi because she issued her ignorant statement “as an ardent practicing Catholic”. She started this debate, not the bishops.

Pelosi ought to apologize to all Catholics for misrepresenting the teaching of the Church. Then she ought to apologize to the millions of children killed in abortuaries because she has failed to act in accord with her professed faith. “With great power comes great responsibility,” to quote an American gospel.
