Dear Senator Shields & Representative Kotek,

I am writing to urge immediate change to the outdated legislation that prevents home-brewed beer from being transported and shared in places other than the home in which it was brewed. I have been a hobby homebrewer for just over a year, and have brewed beer for friends’ weddings and parties, to the delight of many. With the recent OLCC ruling that the State Fair Homebrew Competition is in violation of the homebrewing legislation as it stands on the books, a 22-year-long tradition has been taken from the brewers and citizens of the state of Oregon.

Oregon is well known throughout the world for its unique contributions to beer culture, and a significant contributor to this culture is the education and development that homebrewing creates. Please work together with the multitude of Oregonian hobbyist brewers, organizations like the Oregon Brew Crew, and our thousands of beer-appreciating friends who would like to see the laws changed to allow homebrew to once again be shared and enjoyed at parties and meals.
