The inaugural post to a new blog with excellent potential: Moralaccountability.com, where contributors will analyze the Obama administration’s every move on issues that deal with life and social order (that is, abortion and marriage). This blog will be a daily read, for sure!

The blog was created by a cadre of public intellectuals to bring honest follow-up to the discussions rampant during the 2008 presidential campaign about Obama’s social policies. Specifically, groups like “Catholics In Alliance for the Common Good” claimed that the president-elect would decrease abortions through improved social programs, making a vote for him actually pro-life (in spite of his avowed pro-abortion voting record).

Many of us found this to be an impossible claim (cf. my constant refrain, “You cannot simultaneously both dramatically increase access to abortion and decrease total abortions.”), and this new blog will actually track the results of the new presidency going forward. Not in the sense of “I told you so,” but rather as a chronicle so that we can reason together and avoid duplicating the same errors in future (no matter who’s right!).
